Looking after our environment is no longer a cause simply for the conservation minded. In fact, it may be the only way to ensure a good quality of life in the future, with access to sufficient water, secure food supplies, good health and ultimately even our own survival.
It is each individual’s responsibility to make the lifestyle and consumer choices to reduce our personal contribution to the causes of climate change and global warming.
With these aspects in mind, the town of Hoedspruit and heart of the UNESCO registered Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, together with “partners in Sustainability” - leading “Green” Retailers - Pick n Pay, hosts the annual Pick n Pay Sustainable Living Festival to address these needs and assist in mitigating negative potentials that modern society is affecting on the world around us.
The festival focuses on creating a central platform to enable and spread the awareness of the different methods and options available, as well as to develop interest in, the various methods of, Sustainable Living. From making use of renewable energy within the home, recycling, water-wise and toxin free gardening, to biodynamic and organic agriculture, carbon footprint reduction and the prevention and mitigation of climate change symptoms, the creative use of “upcycling” and many more unique and innovative concepts. There is bound to be something to capture your interest.
Similarly, the festival also acts as a platform for the “bringing together of minds” to discuss, evaluate and implement the many growing and burgeoning ideas related to the principals of Sustainable Living, Biosphere’s and Climate change effects and the many debates developing around the alternative viewpoints and opinions.
Bushveld Connections was the initiator behind the event and is still the lead organiser and director of this great initiative.
