ABOUT DEBBY

Debby Thomson, is the sole member of Bushveld Connections and is the core behind all the business activities.

Debby comes from a conservation background, having studied for and receiving her National Diploma in Nature Conservation while working in conservation and lodge management. 

Debby started her conservation career working in the tourism industry at various lodges for 8 years, of which the last 5 were also spent doing veld management, community development and research projects.

Thereafter she moved more into a field of Sustainable Development through her involvement in the establishment of and later the management of the UNESCO registered Kruger to Canyons Biosphere Region.

During this time, Debby started her company - Bushveld Connections which initially focused on the arrangement of specialist Bushveld Weddings with the assistance and facilitation of film productions running on the side lines.

Over the years, this has grown and subsequently become the main focus of the business to such an extent that Debby no longer does Bushveld Weddings, The majority of film shoots currently worked on by Bushveld Connections are contracted by BBC Natural History Unit.

Both Debby's conservation background and years of living in the bush, together with her great organizational skills work perfectly together to offer high quality "fixing" and facilitation services for film crews wanting to film in the Southern African region.

In addition to this, based on Debby's expert knowledge of the tourism industry and unique and special aspect within the country, Debby is able to put together unique and special focused tour packages that are sold directly to tourists as well as via international tour agents.

Debby also does a small amount of writing for conservation based publications and local newspapers on a variety of subjects and also does general talks an a variety of related subjects.

Debby also has a special affiliation to elephants and is currently involved in looking into and researching her belief in the magical abilities that elephants have to heal people on emotional and physical levels.

Debby is willing to assist with a wide range of projects and options that need specialist organizational and consultative needs and is open to discuss any proposals that a potential client may produce.
